NVISION 2008
is over and what an event it was.
Overclocking legend Peter Tan
a.k.a Shamino
flew in to the USA from Singapore courtesy of EVGA to bench
as my team mate
for some SICK 3dmark Vantage and 3dmark 2006 benching
using EVGA
790isli ftw motherboards and EVGA GTX280 gpu's in both triple
sli and dual SLI
configurations. We managed to take down
4 world records at the
event benching
together. If I had not lost a great Quad core CPU preparing for
the week long
event a few days earlier, it might have been 5 Wr's. So much thanx
goes out to both
EVGA and Shamino for making everything such a success.

NVIDIA GTX280 triple SLI + NVIDIA 790iSLI
= 3Dmark Vantage ownage.
Vantage has just
been taken up to a whole other level with NVIDIA's release
of the gtx280.
These cards scream in triple SLI when used with a 790i chipset
SLI capable
motherboard. Combined with NVIDIA's physX technology, the
scores get a
nice boost. Especially some of the lower resolution presets like
entry and
performance. Here are my best
3D vantage scores in all 4 presets using
physX drivers
for the highest scores and also using standard vanatge install
without NVIDIA
physX.

Computex 2008 Tapei Taiwan with Foxconn
was a great success. Got to meet
world class
overclockers from Team Japan and Italy as well as do some 790i
overclocking
with GX2's in quad SLI for a 3DMARK VANTAGE WR. It was such
a huge honor for
me to bench alongside DUCK, NEWBEETLE, and FREDYAMA
from team Japan.
These guys are masters at what they do and have influenced
and inspired me
in everything I have done and still do in overclocking and
container
progression.
Duck was cool as
hell..

3DMARK vantage
co-pilot Giorgioprimio from Memory extreme team ITALY.
Dimas gets an
honorable mention as he did an admirable job of making sure we
NEVER ran out of
LN2 . Shamino was also there helping us out with his rig
and keeping the
LN2 flowing when we needed him. Thanx for everything pete,
see you in Cali
in August man :)

The Plaisio superclock at the Athens Mall
in Greece was an amazing event that I
will not soon forget.
It was quite a spectacle with lights, dancers, presentations,
giveaways, and of
course some extreme overclocking with two of my biggest in-
fluences in 3d
benching and overclocking in general...Peter Tan (shamino) of
singapore and George
Theologou (Hipro5) of Greece. Both of these guys are
legends in
overlcocking and it was a huge honor for me to meet them and share
some ideas/methods. We
had a very nice supporting cast consisting of other well
knows memebers of the
Greek and global OC communities.....Saaya and Fr3ak
from Germany, Fredyama
(Team Japan member)living in the U.K, and of course
GoriLLakoS and Esdee
from Athens. Also had the pleasure of meeting Troufmann
from OC/TV, and all
the guys from the lab.gr and out of specs.gr which are two
very well known Greek
OC teams. The greeks have a very strong overclock co-
mmunity. We managed to
put up some pretty nice team numbers involving every-
one that was present.
Real team effort and real nice results. Broke 29,000 in 2006
with an INTEL
YORKFIELD QX9650 and dual 2900XT's in XFIRE without even
pushing the cards
hard. 30K++ scores will be popping up after these chips go
retail no doubt. Thanx
again to PLAISIO computers for the wonderful time!!

Getting in some killer
overclocking last couple weeks with
INTEL's lastest quad
core processor the QX6850 and a variety of different motherboards using
both
single card and SLI configuration on the NVIDIA 8800 ULTRA's. Focusing
not
so much on the gpu's in most of these benches, but on pushing the
chip with
all 4 cores enabled on liquid nitrogen using my new F1 unit. More pics
of the
unit are in
cooling.

First result is the SLI score at
26,847
using ASUS STRIKER EXTREME 680iSLI,
2 gig CORSAIR Dominator 10000C5, 2x EVGA 8800 ULTRA, and SILVERSTONE
1200W psu. 5250mhz on the striker not too bad, will make a push for
5300mhz
SLI on this mobo soon. Lost one of my cards during single card testing,
so once
that gets sorted out things will get rolling again. That card was an
amazing one,
and still holds the single card 2006, 2003, and 2001 world records in
addition to
SLI 2003 and 2006 top scores. Been benching with it since the first week
of the
launch of these cards....RIP
Now switching to the new P35 chipset with
single 8800 ULTRA on air to really see
what this new quad can do
with 4 cores enabled. Setup is ASUS P5K3 Deluxe,
CORSAIR CM3X1024-1800C7D,
single ULTRA default clocked/cooled, and
SILVERSTONE 1200W psu.
Pushing for high fsb to start. On ASUS P5K-premium
can do a little over 510fsb
with a little bit of tuning. Here is a full 2006 run at
509x10...great cpu score for the mhz.
Using CORSAIR dominator 10k's here.
Swap to DDR3 system with
1800C7D's to push the
chip's MHZ hard on LN2 using
the F1. Never would I have
thought that I would see a quad running at nearly
5400mhz in 2006 with 4
cores, but this chip is getting awfully close :).
5346MHZ
is my highest published run
so far, but I think there is more there based on the
temps and voltage needed for
those speeds. F1 owns the QUAD so far in 06.
That cpu speed and power
pulls a whopping cpu score of over
8500 points!!
07-20-07
Been on a little
vacation from overclocking this summer and getting back in touch
with my other loves besides extreme overclocking. Spent the majority
of the
2007 summer planning, building, and skating a 16ft wide 4.5ft high mini
ramp.
It has 16ft of seamless steel coping on each side and the perfect
trannies / length
of flat for a ramp this size. It's really fast, even with just plywood
surface. When I
get some extra cash, will put the final surface of skatelite on, and it
should be even
faster.
Skatelite is HUGE $$$ to do a whole ramp this size, but well
worth it.
If you have ever skated on a ramp with skatelite, you know whats up and
that it is
worth every penny.

Unfortunately, I am painfully sitting here and typing this with a
arm/wrist brace on
as I slammed very hard early this week and re-broke my left wrist :(. I've bro-
ken both wrists multiple times over many years skateboarding and
snowboarding.
Benching three LN2 units at once would be pretty difficult currently, so
could
be some time before I get back into some heavy overclocking
again.
Really needed the "break" anyways :).

ASUS P5K-Deluxe sporting INTEL'S new
p35 chipset along with an NVIDIA 8800
ULTRA make for some pretty solid
AIR benching in 3d.
The board is quite nice and can run high on all around clocks on
both FSB
and memory mhz. CORSAIR DOMINATOR 10000C5's are flyin over 600mhz
3d stable on the P5K so far.
Here are some 3d air numbers from some
of the
first few tests with the P5K and Ultra...looking good. Silent
knight copper
heatpipe cpu cooler does great job, even with around 78-80f
ambient
temps, I could still run my X6800 at nearly 3800mhz for 3dmarks and the
quad
running a bit hotter then the conroe, but still making 06 runs close to
3.7ghz on
the silent running cooler with the warm room temp was impressive.
Ln2 clocking soon.
Modding the shader clocks gives the card a nice boost in
ALL 3dmark benches and reveals some of
the new headroom on the ultra's shader
clock. Once again the silent knight held it's own with silence :) and a
little more
cpu load.

8800 Ultra's
:)~
are on the sled atm and getting in testing when I
can.
Cards are showing some major potential so far with just limited testing
on ex-
treme cold. They scale nicely on both core and memory with LN2. On
more gpu dependant benchamarks such as 3dmark 03 single and SLI as well
as single 3dmark2006, the cards really shine.
Prelim results are shaping up and giving the cards a little more cpu
power with
both Conroe and Kentsfield should give a nice boost. Cards clock up to
990/1260
at cascade temps fairly easy :). Test setup for Single 3dmark
01,
03,
05,
and
AM3,
on extreme cooling:
INTEL CONROE X6800XE Dragon evo2.3
LN2 cooled
ASUS P5W64-PRO |
Corsair Dominator 8888
EVGA 8800 ULTRA
Tek-9 LN2 cooled
Silverstone 1000w
Test setup for Single 3dmark2006
and SLI 3dmark2006:
INTEL KENTSFIELD QX6700 Dragon evo2.3 LN2 cooled
ASUS STRYKER EXTREME
680iSLI | CORSAIR Dominator 8888
Dual EVGA 8800
ULTRA Tek-9 LN2 cooled
SILVERSTONE 1000w
Lots more potential there on both cpu and gpu side. Cpu bound benches
will
get nice boosts with more FSB/MHZ and higher memory speed.
This setup will get some more abuse under extreme cold
soon enough.

Started playing around with some single 8800gtx 3D benchmarking with
both
conroe and kentsfield pushing the G80 in Mark
06,
05,
03, and
01. More to
come with full speed on
both cpu and gpu.

G80 is here, and the initial benchmarking
results are off the scale with so much
performance untapped still. G80 +
680iSLI will make for an interesting winter no
doubt about that. Very
special thanx to NVIDIA for asking me to be part of the
launch of such an awesome new GPU
and platform. Since I am so incredibly lazy,
here is the link to a thread with the new gear at where else but
xtremesystems.org
Can't wait to see where the numbers end up..100k 01' ,
90k 03', 33k 05', and
over 24k 06' all seems possible. I left off at
23,733 currently in 3dmark 2006
using the EVGA 680iSLI motherboard + 8800gtX's in SLI , Kentsfield
quadcore
processor, CORSAIR Dominator 8888's, and SILVERSTONE Zeus 850w psu.

Damn, look what never was...
Guess this baby just became a collectors item after only a week and a
1/2 out
of the box:
DFI's decision to focus on the upcoming c55 chipset and not c19 is
reason for
holding off on testing. C55 board will rock no doubt ;). Low FSB or not,
c19
based motherboards is still the ticket to getting to the top of the HOF
with gtx's
officially atm. I've tested all the c19 variants and they perform very
similarly.
My testing with c19 chipset has been going much better lately actually.
WR's in
3dmark2006,
2003 , and top 5 26k
3dmark2005 at
5ghz is not too shabby
where system power counts the most. 7900gtX's are not running at full
power on any of these runs.
______________________________________________________________
6-11-06
Nice AM2 updates in 3dmark2003,
2005, and
2006. All runs done using FX62 still
clocked under 3680mhz!
______________________________________________________________
6-01-06
AM2 / 590 SLI results with the CORSAIR 6400 C3 LL DIMMS with EPP
technology
are coming along nicely. Final runs with full cpu power should be quite
impressive
in 06', 03' and even 05'. NVIDIA 7900gtX's are screaming now on my Tek9
ln2
pots and I am getting my best clocks ever in SLI due to the FOXCONN
CE51XE
AM2 board and it's ability to scale the cards to their full potential in SLI. Here is
where the AM2 scores sit currently in Futuremark's 3dmark2003,
2005, and
2006.
I
expect much bigger numbers once I get the FX62 up to full speed to match
the
power of the G71's clocked at 1050/1090mhz. These runs done using a cpu
speed
of only 3530-3640mhz. Clock for clock, AM2 is faster then nf4. The 2003
score is
the current overall record due to the monster clocks in SLI that I am
getting with
the new 590 SLI chipset which now permits very high core clocks on the
GPU's.
High GPU clocks in SLI also helped to take 06 WR at over 100mhz less on
the cpu.
More to come.

Currently in the middle of bench testing a pair of NVIDIA
7900gtX's, and so far the
results are great. Broke 13k 3dmark 2006 with my FX60 and dual 7900
gtX's in SLI:

Cpu is running at 3679mhz on my ln2 dragonpot. gtX's are on my Tek9 ln2
G's.
Also got some great scores going In
3dmark2003,
3dmark2005,
and
3dmark2001.
More to come soon with gpus and full speed and closer to 3700mhz on the
FX.
______________________________________________________________
1-26-06
FX-60 testing has begun with my dual 7800gtX512's in SLI, and so far the
results are
great. Currently holding number 1 spot in both
3dmark2005 and
3dmark3006 with
the FX clocking around 3560mhz and cards at 779/2160. I expect much
bigger
gpu clocks when I get my solid copper gpu containers finished.

1-15-06
Worlds first 4ghz benchmark on an AMD FX57 processor is done! I benched
superpi
1m stable at 4007mhz
here using
my solid copper dragon pot and ln2. It took alot of
patience with the coldbug and around -105c on my container to do it. I
also got
some nice
8m and
pifast runs in too. With more tweaking,
that 1m could easily break
into 20.** seconds range.

3d Trifecta is mine for time being with scores of
18,810,
44,255, and
50,984 points
in mark 05, 03, and 01 respectively. Plenty more in the chip still and I
have yet to
test the solid gpu containers, so I expect bigger numbers soon :). I am
benching the
fx57 at 3970mhz for 3d!

The Pentium M returns as king of 3dmark2001 once again!.
I managed 50,984
points
here. The
7800gtX 512 is a true monster, as I was able to get it clocking in
nature at speeds of 818/2100+!! The scores are great for only one vga
card.
Here is some single card gtx512
